Why are online classes so life-changing
It’s been a while since everyone started talking about how COVID-19 will change our lifestyle forever. For now, it seems like this new coronavirus has come to stay, and we have to get used to it. So, what are the consequences that all this buzz that started back in 2020 will carry? There’s one specific consequence that’s very clear: most things have switched to online, as in the case of online classes.
Even though it’s true that before the pandemic we were getting pretty comfortable with online activities (like online shopping or, undoubtedly, the use of social media), there are others that have been pretty rushed and forced, and those are online classes or teleworking.
At first it sounded great. A few months without having to go to school or work and doing everything from the comfort of home? Sign me up! But no. It was too good to be real. The reality is a lot of students wishing to go back to school or university.
Luckily, some platforms like Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams have eased this way of studying, so online classes have become a thing. But sometimes they are difficult; it’s hard to maintain focus, you get lost easily, the communication is poor… most people just would prefer to go back to normal.
Then, has online teaching come to stay as well? Maybe. It has certainly solved some problems that were already present even before the coronavirus disruption, and it’s likely that some institutions will turn to it when the situation requires.
No panic though! It’s even more probable that once the pandemic situation ends, students will go back to schools and face-to-face teaching. And they might, in some years, look back and reminisce about online classes with some kind of nostalgia.
